What Is Screen Opacity?

Screen opacity is important for retractable screens. Sometimes, there are instances when a screen has to be mounted in a room with less than ideal viewing conditions. A perfect example of this — and one we do quite often — is when a screen must be mounted in front of a window or another light source. Having an optional opaque layer behind the screen’s surface will help to eliminate projector light from bleeding through the screen material and will also eliminate ambient light coming from behind the screen.

At Stewart we make our own fabrics in a layered process so we can include opaque layers in the interior of the fabric. By placing a black opaque layer as an interior layer, the screen surface does not heat up like it would if the black opaque layer was exposed on the backside of the screen. We look at every factor to optimize image quality and give you the best viewing experience possible.
