A key feature for cinematic presentations is sound transparency. However, obtaining the highest level of sound should not compromise visual acuity. The best way to ensure the highest level of both visual acuity and sound transparency is screen perforation.
During post-production audio film mixing, soundtracks are assigned to designated speakers with left, center, and right channel speakers in the front and surround sound speakers behind the viewer. As a result, the sound comes from where you expect it, and the audio is aligned with the action sequences seen on the screen. Stewart offers optional acoustical transparency for realistic sound so speakers can be placed behind the screen to create big theater sound while providing simply the best on-screen image.
Stewart has four options for acoustical transparency:
MicroPerf X² THX Ultra: Stewart’s MicroPerf X² THX Ultra is an optional detailed process whereby tiny precision holes are spaced evenly across the entirety of any of our 16K+ front projection screen materials. Because each of our custom screen materials are application driven and venue specific, our acoustically transparent MicroPerf screens are simply the very best screens available on the market today.
CinemaPerf: The professional’s choice for large cinema-sized screens needing acoustical transparency. CinemaPerf can be used with any of our award-winning 16K+ front projection screen materials.
New Harmony G2: Soon to be announced, our new knit weave is for those who want the highest level of sound transparency available and unmatched color reproduction when compared to any weave. Harmony G2 blends acoustical transparency with a neutral 4K woven surface to bring you the best in weave projection screen material.
Perforado: Brings a high level of audio performance as well as image fidelity to Stewart’s Cima Fixed Frame series. Available with our Neve screen material only.
